Whale Wallet Sends LINK to Coinbase Again

Hailey HughesHailey Hughes—September 7, 20260

A large Chainlink holder has moved another 620,420 LINK to Coinbase on September 7, extending a three-week run of deposits into the exchange, according to blockchain analytics account Onchain Lens.

How the Transfers Built Up Over Three Weeks

The latest transaction was valued at roughly $7.6 million when it was reported. Taken together, the same wallet has now sent 2.41 million LINK to Coinbase over the past three weeks, with an estimated combined value of about $26.04 million based on the figures shared by the analyst.

Onchain Lens attributed the activity to a single address, 0xF5B007a6341AcC8CfEC581d8A1c5560bC19d9650. The wallet had previously accumulated its LINK through withdrawals from Binance before switching to repeated deposits into Coinbase, a shift that suggests distribution rather than accumulation. Even so, the blockchain record does not prove that the tokens were sold.

Viewed across the full three-week span, the flow breaks down this way:

  1. The newest deposit was 620,420 LINK, worth about $7.6 million, which is close to 25.7% of the total moved during the period.
  2. Earlier deposits accounted for about 1.79 million LINK before the most recent transfer.
  3. The full three-week total reached 2.41 million LINK, or approximately $26.04 million.
  4. The implied price on the latest move was about $12.25 per LINK.
  5. Across all three weeks, the average implied value was near $10.80 per token.

Those figures reflect market conditions at the time each transfer was made, not a confirmed execution price. Blockchain data can show movement, but it cannot reveal whether the coins were sold, held, or used in some other way after arriving on the exchange.

Why a Large Exchange Deposit Does Not Equal a Sale

A wallet on its own does not identify the person, company, or fund behind it. The address could belong to an individual trader, an institution, a market-making operation, or a custody provider, and the term “whale” simply refers to the size of the holdings rather than a verified identity. Anyone can inspect the wallet history through the Ethereum explorer Etherscan, but exchange labels are still based on attribution data that can change as more information becomes available.

There is also no sign that the address belongs to Chainlink Labs, the Chainlink Foundation, or any known treasury associated with the project. In other words, this activity should not be treated as Chainlink itself moving funds.

Deposits to exchanges often attract attention because they can come before selling, hedging, or collateral use, and a transfer of this size can add to the supply sitting on an exchange. That said, a deposit alone does not prove intent. Other possibilities include internal custody transfers, account consolidation, OTC preparation, or a trade that has not yet occurred.

To confirm an actual sale, analysts would need more evidence, such as Coinbase wallet outflows, clear order-book pressure, a rise in exchange balances, or a direct statement from the wallet owner. None of those signals have appeared alongside the Onchain Lens report. Even without proof of selling, a large transfer can still influence sentiment because traders sometimes anticipate additional supply before it actually reaches the market.

LINK Price Strength Meets Overbought Conditions

On September 7, LINK traded near $13.07, up about 7.1% for the day after moving between roughly $12.12 and $13.32. That leaves the token well above the $7 to $8 lows seen in June and July, showing how far the rebound has already progressed.

The daily chart shows a mixed technical picture. The MACD line was around 0.7841, above the signal line near 0.7069, while the histogram stayed positive at about 0.0771, which still points to bullish momentum. At the same time, a recent red candle and the narrowing gap between the two MACD lines suggest the pace of the rally may be slowing.

Momentum is also stretched by RSI readings. The RSI sat near 72.47, with its moving average around 67.71, placing it in territory often described as overbought. That does not guarantee a reversal, but it does show the market is running hot.

For now, the $12 to $13 zone remains important for preserving the short-term recovery structure. A move below that range would weaken the rebound, while a push above the recent highs could extend it further. There is no direct evidence linking this whale deposit to a specific price move, since LINK continues to trade under broader market forces as well.

Chainlink’s Network Growth Keeps Moving Forward

Separate from the exchange activity, Chainlink continues to expand its reach across the crypto infrastructure market. Its Cross-Chain Interoperability Protocol, or CCIP, processed $4.9 billion in volume in the second quarter, which represented a 353% increase year over year, according to figures cited by Standard Chartered. The same report estimated that Chainlink secures more than $110 billion in value across its oracle and cross-chain services, although that remains a projection rather than a guaranteed outcome.

Recent integrations have added to that momentum. Aave adopted CCIP as its default system for cross-chain deposits, withdrawals, governance, and GHO transfers, while BitGo made CCIP the exclusive cross-chain provider for Wrapped Bitcoin and shifted its $7.3 billion WBTC ecosystem away from LayerZero. Publicly announced CCIP migrations now total about $14.6 billion.

Other developments also point to broader institutional interest. More than 50 banks joined a stablecoin foreign-exchange settlement trial that combines blockchain settlement with Swift and ISO 20022 messaging for atomic payment-versus-payment transactions. Chainlink also formed a partnership with Bottomline Technologies to connect blockchain-based payment tools with infrastructure used by 600 banks.

These partnerships may strengthen long-term demand for Chainlink’s services, but their impact on LINK’s price depends on product design, fee structures, and how the token is actually used. None of that removes the short-term supply concern that can come with a large deposit into an exchange.

What Traders Will Watch Next

The next moves from the same wallet will matter most. More deposits would increase the amount of LINK already sitting on Coinbase, while a transfer back to a private wallet would suggest the holder was keeping the position or moving funds internally instead of selling.

Watching Coinbase’s LINK balances and any linked transaction clusters could add more context, although separating this wallet’s activity from broader exchange traffic will take careful analysis. For now, the confirmed fact is simple: 620,420 LINK were sent from the identified address to Coinbase.

Calling that transfer a sale of $7.6 million in LINK would go beyond what the available evidence supports.
